Why there are no ads here

A site that tells you which A&E is moving fastest only works if you can trust that nothing on it is being recommended for money. Adverts, referral links and "featured" placements all pull in the other direction — someone is always paying for the recommendation, and a hospital is not something to gamble on.

So there are none. The official figures come from NHS England and Public Health Scotland open data, and the crowd reports come from members of the public. Neither is for sale, and no hospital can pay to appear better here than it is.

The trade-off is that the site has to pay for itself another way. It's built and run by one person, and it earns nothing — the server, the domains and the time all come out of one pocket. It isn't a charity and it isn't a business. If it has been useful to you, you can help cover the running costs.

Test mode — no real money

This site is currently connected to a payment account in test mode. Any contribution you start from this page is a rehearsal and no card will be charged.

Payment is handled entirely by Stripe on their own secure page — this site never sees or stores your card details. You'll be sent back here afterwards. Nothing about you is stored by this site: no account, no email list, and no record of who gave what.

Where the money would go

Straight into the cost of running the thing: the servers that hold the data and serve the pages, the domain names, and the work of keeping the figures current as NHS England and Public Health Scotland publish new files each month. There is no salary, no office and nothing else to fund.

This is a voluntary contribution towards running costs, not a charitable donation and not a payment for any service. Nothing on this site changes for contributors — the data is the same for everyone, and no contributor gets anything in return.
